Cherry on top simple home-made wheat cookies.  This is simple cookies or biscuit recipe which anyone can make with just few hands on ingredients from your kitchen. I love to make recipes and food in a  limited amount of time. This Wheat cookie can make within a few minutes for morning breakfast or evening snack time.

Now-a-days, making biscuits, cookies or nankhatai has increased in my kitchen after purchasing new convection mode microwave. I have even tried trutti-frutti biscuit and failed once because I was in a hurry  and  reduced resting time in the fridge and this is the main reason it gets cracked while cutting into slices but taste wise it was best . In 2nd attempt, I have succeeded in Trutti Frutti Biscuits. I will update this recipe soon. Of course, all those cookie recipes are not my own. I have adapted  those recipes from the web. Google is my guardian while cooking.

Atta Biscuits

This crunchy cookie can make you drool while enjoying your evening tea and snacks. My daughter is a big fan of this wheat cookie and I also feel happy while having this flourless cookie. It doesn’t take more than 45 minutes including baking period.

Surprise your child with this Cherry on Top wheat cookies. You can use cashew or any nuts instead of cherry, but I can say cherry looks more cute and representative. Go….grabs your spatula and make your cookies today!!!!

Whole Wheat Flour: 1/2 Cup
Sugar – 1/2 cup,  Powdered
Baking Soda – 1/4 Tsp
Vanilla Essence – 1/2 Tsp
Oil – 1/4 Cup
Milk – 2 to 3 Tsp (if needed for binding)
Salt – a pinch
Cherry for topping

Recipe for Wheat Cookies or Atta Biscuits:

  1. Line baking tray with baking paper or parchment paper and keep aside.
  2. In bowl, add oil, powdered sugar and vanilla essence and mix it well.
  3. Add flour, baking soda and salt and mix it well with spatula or hand. You will get crumbly mixture.
  4. Add a spoonful of milk to knead the dough. If require add another 1 Tspn milk. Don’t add full milk at the starting stage.
  5. Take a small portion of dough approximate lemon size. Flatten little and press half cherry on top.
  6. Arrange those cookies on baking tray and bake it for 10-12 minutes in 180 degree preheated oven.
  7. Remove from the oven and place it on a cooling rack.
  8. Once cooled, store it in an air tight container.

Notes: Don’t over baked, as it turns hard.

Masala Taak Recipe | How To make Masala Chaas or Buttermilk Recipe

Summer is on its high and you need to beat some heat. Adding juices, cold smoothies and some cold drinks are always our highest priorities in summer. One of the favorite summer drink in India is Masala Chaas or Butter Milk. It is flavored with various species, green chili’s and coriander leaves. This buttermilk is not only cool your body but also help in the digestion process. This is the main reason we use to drink after having our meal. It is a fat free drink so anyone can drink this without any tension.

In Maharashtra, when a wedding or any other celebration comes in Summer season, Masala Chaas is always on high demanding in food menu.

Taak or Masala Chaas is a very popular recipe in India with various variations like salted chaas, masala chaas, lassi or can drink plain buttermilk also. Sometime when I don’t get time to make masala chaas, we used to drink plain or salted taak only.

To make buttermilk from Curd or dahi is a very simple recipe. To get perfect chaas, we need to follow exact ratio for curd and water. It can be varied, as per your requirement also. I used to take 1:6 ratio, i.e.. if we take 1 cup of curd so water need to take 6 cups. I got this idea from my sister. She got this information while reading newspaper. Before this, we normally make the buttermilk just adding water in curd and blend it in a blender or grinder and serve with some spices, chillies and chopped coriander leaves.

So try this recipe today and share your thoughts. 

Ingredients :
Curd : 1 Cup

Water : 6 Cup
Black Salt: 3/4th Tspn
Cumin Powder: 1 Tspn (as per your taste)
Chat Masala: ½ Tspn
Green Chillies : 1 small chopped
Coriander Leaves: 1 Tbsn (Chopped)

Recipe for Masala Chaas or Buttermilk :

  1. Take curd and water in blender. Blend for 30 Second and it mix well and become frothy.
  2. Strain this mixture in strainer. You will get plain buttermilk. You can use this buttermilk for any purpose.
  3. Add cumin powder, some chat masala, black salt or normal salt, chopped green chillies and coriander leaves.
  4. Mix it well with the help of a spoon or glass or even you can blend for just few seconds before adding coriander leaves.
  5. Serve chill.

Masala Buttermilk

Notes :

  • Avoid stain process if you want frothy chaas. We prefer to make plain buttermilk.
  • You can flavor with mint leaves also. It gives a nice taste to buttermilk.
  • Black salt is not compulsory, we can use plain salt as well.

Homemade Strawberry Jam Recipe

Yet another simple recipe: “Strawberry Jam”. Jam is always high demanding in our breakfast menu. Easy to serve with bread slices or Chapati (Roti). As I promised, I have come up with one more strawberry recipes “Homemade Strawberry Jam”.  This is simply no preservative, no food color added jam recipe which anyone can have without any guilt.

The child is hungry and asking for some instant food and if you have Jam and bread in your fridge than you just don’t need to go panic till you will make new snacks for them.

Strawberry, itself have yummy, tempting and mouth watering original red colour so adding another food color or flavour are just simply NO..NO..  . I am always fascinated to make Jams, Jelly at my home but never tried. Once, while browsing on the internet I have found Pineapple Jam recipe on the MasterChef Tarla Dalal website so this Strawberry Jam comes from that recipe. Instead of Pineapple, I have used Strawberry.

Strawberry Jam Recipe

After trying Jam at home, we have never used preservative jam. I have even tried Pineapple Jam and it has also come out very well within a few minutes. Not much thought, here we go with No Preservative, Homemade Strawberry Jam with step wise picture.

Strawberries : 15-20

Sugar: 1/4 Cup
Lemon Juice: ½ Tspn (if require)

Stepwise Picture for No Preservative added Homemade Strawberry Jam Recipe:

  1. Wash the strawberry in running water. Clean the strawberry surface. Remove unwanted part like leaves.
  2. Cut the strawberries in 2-3 small slices.
  3. Put all cuts strawberries in Grinder and grinder till the smooth paste or as per you requirements. I love little crunch in Jam.
  4. Remove strawberry puree in non-stick kadhai or pan.
  5. Cook for 2 minutes. Once, little boiled add 1/4th cup sugar or as per strawberry taste and stir it well. I love little sweet and tanginess in Jam.
  6. Cook in low flame for another 15 minutes. Mix in between to prevent strawberries from burning.
  7. Add lemon juice. This is optional.
  8. When mixture start thickens and leaves the side from the pan, it means Jam is ready or you can taste it on flat surface.
  9. Take a ½ spoon of jam and put it on flat surface or plate, after cooling if it set and there is no separating of water this means Jam is ready.
  10. Switch of the flame and let it cool the jam.
  11. Once, done. Add the jam in clean sterilize bottle.
  12. Keep the bottle in the fridge.
No preservative Strawberry Jam Recipe

  1. This jam can stay upto 2 months in refrigerator.
  2. You can increase the proportion to make more quantity
  3. You can make this Jam with honey as well. Just replace sugar with honey.
  4. Sterilizing the Jar will help to kill the bacteria and hence jam storage life will increase.
