Rain started last weekend but not the way we want… We still feel the summer.. Our juices, milkshakes, ice cream and summer recipes intakes are increasing day by day due to heat and humidity…

I love to search new recipes on the web and try in our kitchen. While browsing few recipes, I got this today’s recipe from here.. It is non other than Watermelon Granita… If you know about Mumbai Chaupati and Beaches, you all aware of spoon gola.. The Ice with varieties of juices and flavors.. This watermelon granita is kind of watermelon juice or you can say freeze watermelon lemonade..

I love the texture of this granita, it always reminds my school days and summer vacation. We used to eat lots of ice gola in summer.

We can also try muskmelon, orange, grapes, sweet lime or even strawberry granita.. Watermelon itself has lots of water so we don’t need to add extra water just lemon and sugar is more enough to make this granita. For strawberry granita, we need to add little water..

Watermelon Summer Recipe

Finally, sorry for not getting a good pictures as my daughter is in so hurry to try her watermelon Ice cream.. As per her thoughts . Also, the heat was so much while scraping with the help of folk, it got melted. So let try this easy peasy watermelon granita recipe.

Ingredients:

Watermelon Cubes: 2 and Half Cup
Lemon Juice: From Half Lemon
Sugar: 2 Tablespoon or as per watermelon taste.

Recipe For Watermelon Granita:

1.  Add watermelon cubes, sugar and lemon juice in mixer.
2. Grind it till gets nice juice.
3. If it does contain any watermelon seed, then strain from the strainer.
4. Transfer it in deep fridge bowl or box.
5. Fridge it till 3-4 hours or for better result keep it over night.
6. While serving, take out of the fridge. With the help of folk or spoon, scrape out nicely and serve immediately.
7. Enjoy this chilled watermelon granita.

Phodnichi Poli or Leftover Chapati Recipe (Spicy Chapati Crumble)

Lots of Chapati, rice or vegetables left yesterday night.. What to do now??? I can’t throw them all in the dustbin.. Mumma’s got this type of question at least for one day in a week. I too got this question most of the time.

Today, I am going to share leftover chapati or roti recipe. We, Maharashtrian call this as a “phodanichi Poli” or “Chapaticha Chivda” some people also called as a “tukde”. This is nothing but a left over Chapati tamper with chili, curry leaves and mustard seeds, etc. and added with some twist like fruit or vegetables…

Phodnichi Poli or Tadkewali roti is one of the common breakfast in Maharashtian Kitchen. It is a really healthy way to use a leftover Chapati. Also, adding a various veggies in this dish gives you more nutritional value. You can have this in morning breakfast or evening snacks with curd or tomato ketchup.

Ingredients:

7 to 8 Chapatis (A day before)
Onion :1 Small

For Tempering:

Oil : 2 Tspn
Mustard Seed: ¼ Tspn
Pinch of Asafoetida
Curry Leaves: 4-5
Turmeric Powder : ¼ Tspn
Red Chili Powder: ½ Tspn
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste (Approx. ¼ Tspn)
Lemon Juice : ½ Tspn
Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves

Recipe for Phodnichi Poli :

  1. Take left over chapatis. Mince them little with your hand and grind them on the grinder.
  2. Cut the onion in small slices.
  3. Heat 2 Tspn in Pan, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chili powder and curry leaves. Add onion and saute until translucent.
  4. Add Chapati and stir over medium heat. Add sugar and salt. Give a nice stir and cover the lid and cook another 2 minute on low heat.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice. Serve hot!
  6. You can few chopped fruits or carrot.

Notes : You can add any vegetables to make it more healthy. Add chopped fruits or grated coconut while serving.
